Assuring Success With A Casino Slot Machine

Posted by: Simon M Skinner  /  Category: Gambling

Many people want to know the master secret behind how to win big on a casino slot machine. There are some people that believe that there is a secret formula out there that is proven to work time and time again. To date, there has not been a single proven method for winning every time on a slot machine. There are things that you can do to increase your odds though and there is some advice that you can follow to see if it happens to work well for you.

The first thing to do is to make sure that you are playing on a slot machine game that has a high turnout of winners. You want to make sure that you are fully aware of the rules and your odds of winning. The more educated you are on the game and everything that is involved in playing it, the better your odds of winning should be.

If the rules seem unclear or you don’t understand how the odds have been calculated, you should look into the matter yourself. You can find plenty of resources on the odds of winning with slot machines and other online games, so it won’t take too long to find the information you need – and this is important knowledge to have.

If you’ve never done any sort of gaming or are new to playing on a casino slot machine, it’s important to take things slowly. Start small; it would be a mistake to place a large bet on a slot machine if you’ve never played on one before – you’ll likely walk away having lost your money!

There are of course the incredibly lucky few out there who really have made a fortune their very first time at the slot machine. While this is a possibility, remember that the odds of this being the case for you are so low that you probably shouldn’t count on this happening.

If you have the opportunity to speak with other players who have had a record of winning consistently, then you should ask them if they have any advice to offer. They may have some tips for you – but remember that these are only tips, not guarantees and there is no way to assure winning at slots or any other game each and every time you play.

You can also ask your family and friends if they have any insight on gaming, supposing that you have friends or family members who have some experience in this area. Make sure to listen to any advice anyone has to offer you, since it may be useful to know at some point.

When it comes to finding a sure fire way to win every time, you might find that you have to create your own methods. This of course is going to take a little trial and error on your part and it may very well cost you a little bit of money. If you are willing to put the time, energy, focus and money into it, you might be the first to finally come up with a proven system for winning at casino slot machine games.

Allen Iverson Signs With Grizzlies

Posted by: Warren Pritchett  /  Category: Gambling

Although I loathe Allen Iverson due to what he caused in Detroit with the Pistons, corrupting what was an incredibly tightly knit squad that happened to be one of the finest organizations in the Eastern Conference, I have to lay my disdain for the man aside.

Not because I would like to, but since the major acquisition in the existence of the Memphis Grizzlies’ franchise took place on Wednesday. AI finally answered the question that a variety of residents of Memphis have been asking.

Will he go there or not?

Through Twitter, Iverson, who will now be getting $3.5 million this season for the Grizzlies, ended all of the rumors and agreed provisionally to join the Grizzlies, his 3rd franchise in the most recent four seasons.

The agreement furthermore includes incentives for reaching the post-season, one thing that hasn’t happened dating back to ’06 (when they lost to the Mavs in the 1st round), and if they make the league finals.

Over the seasons, Iverson has had challenges grasping leadership and taking any responsibility that comes to him (example: the Pistons) and clashing with coaches (i.e.: the Sixers), which is why hardly any franchises had been interested in Iverson following his failure in Detroit.

Now he has shot to accomplish something similar to what he did in Philadelphia (when he entered the league) and guide the fortunes of this franchise around and make it happen with a trio of young stars in O.J. Mayo, Rudy Gay, and Hasheem Thabeet.

While we should not pencil the Grizzlies in for the playoffs by any account, it’s not difficult to say that they will be improved from last season.

If Iverson stays more than one season, maybe there might be an opportunity, however I do not suppose people should get their hopes up on the fact that the Grizzlies will make the playoffs.

It is too early.

What Are the Rules of the Poker Tournament?

Posted by: Eaves Osaki  /  Category: Poker

One of the first known card game that involved betting money and ranking was started in Germany around the 15th Century called Pochspiel. There is also evidence available that a game called ‘Poque’ was played in France. It is also possible that the name of the game came from the Irish played ‘Poca’. It seems that all of the earlier names collectively influenced the development of the game of Poker as it is played now the world over. In 1970, modern tournament play became popular in American casinos after the World Series of Poker began. The advent of tournament play required forming a set of universal standard rules to govern how the game is conducted.

Having explained the game’s history, let us talk about the rules of tournament play. Poker is a game that like many other family of games that have a set of betting rules and hand rankings. It differs from other card games on how the cards are dealt and hands are formed. Also, it has its own rules for how many rounds of betting are allowed and what the limits may be. In the first round, the bets are kind of forced. The action proceeds to the left. Each player then either matches the last highest bet or folds their hand. The person who matched the bet has the option to raise the bet. Each player then has to either match the bet or fold. When all but one player is left in a round, the remaining last player collects the pot. If more than one player is left after the final bets have been placed, the hands are revealed by each player and the winning hand takes the pot.

Poker tournaments begin immediately when they are scheduled, with seats randomly assigned; however, players cannot change the seats. The player in seat one is also the dealer when play begins. This tournament finishes when one player collects what’s been put into the pot. In some cases, the tournaments are so-called “satellite tournaments,” which means that the tournament itself is played at more than one site simultaneously. If that’s the case, that particular tournament is ended when the necessary number of players has qualified for the event. In other words, if the tournament gives four seats, the tournament ends when there are four players left.

Most tournaments will have the dealer designation moving clockwise, over to the next player, at every round. No player is dealer for more than one hand before the dealer button is passed on. When two players are remaining, the button will post a small blind, and act first in the opening round. Players cannot bow out in favor of another person. There can be some small talk, light conversation, jovial remarks, etc., but civility must remain at all times and players cannot talk about what they have in their hands or reveal their cards.

Players feel that this betting system distinguishes poker from gambling games. With the minor exception of initial forced bets, money is only placed into the pot voluntarily by a player who, at least in theory, rationally believes the bet has positive expected value. Thus while the outcome of any particular hand is determined mostly by chance, the long-run expectations of the players are determined mostly by their actions chosen based on probability and psychology.

A History Account Of Poker Chips

Posted by: Sean Pratch  /  Category: Poker

“The man who invented gambling was a smart man, but the man who invented poker chips was a genius!” Have you ever heard that saying at a poker table? You may brush this off and not think about it much when you hear it, but the next time you push in a big pile of chips that have a lot of value associated with them, think about it again.

While varying items of value have been used in gambling for many hundreds of years, actual poker chips did not really show up until the 1800′s. As with many things, there is no “AHA!” moment where the very first poker chip was created and then gambled away. Chips were made from substances like wood, ivory, bone, and eventually a composite of clay materials.

From the late 1800′s and into the early 1900′s, clay poker chips become the norm. Just a handful of companies in the USA emerged to become the source of these chips. The name that most people associate with clay poker chips is Paulson. Paulson continues to make chips and is the current market leader for casino poker chips, supplying casinos worldwide. There are currently several other clay poker chip manufacturers, including companies outside the USA.

In the late 1900′s a new ceramic poker chip was introduced to the market. The benefits of these chips is that they provided full customization. The entire face on both sides of the chips can be customized with full color images. Also, the edges can be customized with regular stripes, diagonal stripes, text, or anything else you can think up. Ceramic poker chips are currently used in dozens of casinos worldwide.

Back to the old saying about the inventor of the poker chip. How is that guy a “genius”? When gambling, if someone can push a pile of chips into a pot or towards a dealer it does not have the same “feeling” as pushing a stack of cash. Since the chips themselves are worth close to nothing relative to the value they represent, it can be easy to push around piles of poker chips without really thinking about what they are truly worth.

Decoding the Racing Form

Posted by: Byron Jonas  /  Category: Gambling

The horse race is a fantastically short burst of excitement. Lasting no more than a couple of minutes, it mesmerizes spectators with its intensity and propensity for producing angst, surprise, and, always, heartbreak. For many it ends there, as a sport and a diversion-an opportunity for a day of fun and excitement at the races. For others, however, it is chance to not only watch the elation or dejection, but participate in it as well by putting money on the line. What was simply a diversion now becomes a risk, an investment, a chance to make or break. With proper education, however, betting on horse races is less gambling and more calculated risk-taking. The racing form is the best place to educate oneself, but it can be intimidating and downright impossible to understand without a little background knowledge.

Forms are like stock market tables. To the untrained eye they are nothing more than a confusing array of numbers and letters. To the skilled punter, however, they are the keys to financial success. A window into the horse’s past, the form tells the reader where the horse came from, who is riding it, and how it has finished. It includes information on how the horse has fared in recent races and provides an indication of significant events such as falls or time away from racing.

Knowing what the racing form says it a first-step in using the information. A basic primer on the components of the form follows.

Much of the form is logistical information, as its principal and primary use is as a program for the day’s races. Thus, you will find race times, race types, tracks, and the purses for each race. Once you have found your race, however, look into the individual horse listings for the truly valuable information that can make or break your day, and your wallet.

The racing form will list each horse’s name and an array of biographical information. Such information includes the horse’s age, its sex (filly, colt, thoroughbred, gelding), and its color-commonly listed colors are black, brown, bay, buckskin, chestnut, dun, pinto, roan, and white. The sex and color will commonly be abbreviated.

Sire and Dam. Knowledge of the horse’s parents is commonly used by bettors looking to the horse’s lineage as an indicator of potential performance.

As the horse’s lineage is important, so is the reputation of its breeder. Some breeder’s may have legendary reputations while others may have produced more lackluster results. Amongst the many factors influencing a punter’s racing best, the breeder’s name is one more valuable piece of information.

The true meat of the racing form, and the place where a discerning punter spends most of his time, is in the section that details performance in past races. Generally results and comments are listed by individual race and indicate the type of race, the conditions in the race, the odds for the horse, how it finished, and how far behind the winner it finished. General comments tend to follow the basic finishing information and indicated whether or not the horse had any specific problems in the race that may have impacted its performance.

Most important is the summary of the horse’s past performance, broken down by individual race. In this section you can find information not only on how the horse finished in races, but what type of races they ran, what the conditions were for the various races, what the odds were on the horse, and how it fared versus the winner. You can also find general comments which will detail any specific trouble the horse may have had during the race.
