In 1929 a man named Ed Lowe heard about the game Beno and wanted to try it himself. He was a toy manufacturer and loved playing games. He created his own cards and beans and invited people to play. The people loved it and in the excitement of winning a player called out ‘Bingo’ instead of ‘Beno’. The name stuck with the Americanized game and thus was born bingo.

Lowe’s fluke of Bingo became popular very fast and he because a wealthy man. But he did not succeed at a patent for the game. However he did charge a dollar every time someone used the name ‘Bingo’, his creation. Before you knew it the whole country was playing Bingo.
