How to play Craps – Part 3

Posted by: Jessie Dumpton  /  Category: Craps

Welcome to the third part of the casino’s Vegas Craps tutorial. If you wish to begin playing Craps on your computer, you can do so by downloading to casino’s software free of charge.

We have already covered the Pass Line, Don’t Pass Line, Taking The Odds, Come and Don’t Come Bets. There is however a few more that you need to learn if you wish to become a complete online Craps participant.

Field Bets

Field Bets are possibly the simplest bets that you can place at the Craps Table. These bets are also self-explanatory. The waging area of the Field bet is found under the Come Bet area. You will see the numbers 2,3,4,9,10,11 and 12 appear on the table’s felt. This bet will pay 1-to-1 odds to the winner, 2-to-1 if the roll is a 2, and 3-to-1 if the roll is a 12. Filed bets are singular bets that can be placed at any given time and have nothing to do with sequential bets such as Pass Line and Don’t Pass Line Bets. With Field Bets you will be essentially wagering on all dice outcomes excluding 5, 6, 7 or 8, the most likely of numbers to come out from any two dice combinations. Remember, Field Bets do not require the establishment of Points, and this means that you can place wagers any time you wish.

Before we take a look at some other Craps bets, let us find out about a section of jargon applied in the game of Craps. If you choose to activate the lobby’s sound, you will hear the virtual dealer call out some of the following rolls Craps lingo:

1-1: Snake Eyes
1-2: Ace Deuce
1-3: Easy Four
1-4: Fever Five
1-5: Easy Six
1-6: Seven Out
2-1: Ace Deuce
2-2: Hard Four
2-3: Fever Five
2-4: Easy Six
2-5: Seven Out
2-6: Easy Eight
3-1: Easy Four
3-2: Fever Five
3-3: Hard Six
3-4: Seven Out
3-5: Easy Eight
3-6: Nina
4-1: Fever Five
4-2: Easy Six
4-3: Seven Out
4-4: Hard Eight
4-5: Nina
4-6: Easy Ten
5-1: Easy Six
5-2: Seven Out
5-3: Easy Eight
5-4: Nina
5-5: Hard Ten
5-6: Yo-leven
6-1: Seven Out
6-2: Easy Eight
6-3: Nina
6-4: Easy Ten
6-5: Yo-leven
6-6: Boxcars/Midnight

Hardway Bets

Hardway bets are placed smack-bang in the middle of the Craps table. These wagers involve double dice outcomes including twos, threes, fours and fives – notice that these bets involve ‘hard’ dice outcomes as in the Craps Jargon guide above. Since Snake Eyes and Boxcars are not regarded as ‘hard’ numbers, they are not integrated in this type of Craps wagering. We will cover both Snake Eyes and Boxcar bets later in this article.

The losers in Harway bets are soft outcomes of the original bets. Let us suppose that you have made a bet on the hard four but three and one comes up on the dice. This outcome, together with any 7 (seven out) will be an unfavorable outcome to the Hardway wager. If you do however attain a hard dice outcome, the following odds will be in your favor:

2-2 (hard four): 7-to-1
3-3 (hard six): 9-to-1
4-4 (hard eight): 9-to-1
5-5 (hard ten): 7-1

Most land based casinos also offer players the SoftWay bets, but this has not been added to Microgaming’s Vegas Craps rendition.

Learn Craps in 5 Easy Steps: The Passline Bet and the Odds Bet

Posted by: Eliza Jaffe  /  Category: Craps

How can a player with no prior experience, except in watching, learn craps in 5 easy steps? Craps is the most popular dice game played on casinos. Craps could be the casino game of choice of a novice player who hasn’t settled yet for his or her game of specialization, or it could be an welcome alternative to games involving shuffling cards and peering at slot machines.

V:3

The fun that could result from playing craps could be endless and is often contagious; players do not hesitate to show their heightened state of exuberance upon winning a craps session. What makes craps a bit fearful to study, however, is that it is a quick-paced game, often with very loud player commentary, so psyching yourself up to deal coolly with these situations is important before beginning craps sessions and before even thinking for playing craps regularly.

It is possible to learn craps in 5 easy steps, if one is willing to first set aside all thought of assimilating complicated craps jargon and instead focus first on one basic but important, and perhaps, money saving bet in craps: the passline bet. The passline bet has a low house edge (1.41%) compared to other forty or more varieties of craps bets.

Passline Bet:

(1) While waiting for a shooter to roll two dice, you place your passline bet.

(2) If the shooter shoots a sum of 7 or 11 from the combined score in the two die, you win. If the shooter shoots a sum of 2, 3, or 12 instead, you lose.

(3) If the sum is none of the above, get the sum and that becomes what you call your ‘point’.

(4) The shooter rolls the dice repeatedly until the sum reaches the value of the ‘point’, in which case you win even money; but if the shooter rolls a 7 you lose. Note that for every single bet, the point number never changes, regardless of whatever the shooter has rolled again.

(5) Then if you choose to, you may place another passline bet and the process begins anew.

Here is an instance: You place a passline bet of $100. A shooter then shoots the dice, and the results are 5 and 8. The sum is 13. Because it’s not a 7, 11, 2, 3, or 12, the number ’13′ becomes your ‘point’. The shooter rolls again, repeatedly, until he or she gets a sum of 13, in which case you win $100 (your bet), or he or she gets a sum of 7, in which case you lose your bet. (Note: If the shooter rolls a 7, you win only if it’s the sum during the first roll. Otherwise, you lose.)

So, by mastering the passline bet, you can have as much enjoyment as other craps players who prefer more involved betting options. After the passline bet, the odds bet is a welcome variant. The odds bet is an optional extra bet made after the passline bet. The usual odds bet in some casinos, is known as the double odds, where the odds bet is twice the passline bet. For example, in our passline bet above ($100) our odds bet should be $200. The odds bet is paid off this way: If the point is 4 or 10, you get a 2 to 1 payout (twice your odds bet); if the point is 5 or 9, you get a 3 to 2 payout (1.5 times your odds bet); if the point is 6 or 8, you get a 6 to 5 payout (1.2 times your odds bet). The odds bet is less advantageous mathematically than the passline bet, but is a great addition after you learn craps in 5 easy steps through the passline bet.

Craps – An Overview

Posted by: Benjamin Duval  /  Category: Craps

Ask your everyday craps player where the name “craps” actually comes from and they might tell you that it is what you would probably say if you have a losing bet. However, the term “craps” actually comes from the French word for toad, “crapaud.”

In casino craps, players play against a house, selecting 2 dice from a selection of dice offered by the stickman. Several rules apply when throwing the dice, for example they must hit the back wall, to avoid a “controlled shot”. Players bet on a playing surface and winnings are paid by the banker.

Players are able to bet on a winning roll “pass line” or a losing roll “don’t pass line”. If a player rolls a 7 or an 11 on the initial roll, all “pass line” bets win. However if “craps” is thrown (that is a 2, 3 or a 12), then all of those “pass line” bets are losers. “Don’t pass line” bets have the effect of reversing the fortunes of the above sets of numbers, except for the number “12″, which is generally declared a tie to maintain the house’s advantage.

Whenever a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled by the thrower, the stickman places an “on” button on the corresponding number in the field. The player then has as many throws or he or she needs to roll that number again for everyone to win. However, if the player rolls a 7 before they re-roll the “on” number, all players lose.

More and more people have taken to playing online craps in recent years, although it doesn’t offer the same type of fun available at a craps table when everyone can win at the same time. However, the popularity of online craps is always growing because of its relatively easy playability. Let’s just hope they don’t have to look into the snake eyes too much.
