NFL 2009 Season Will Be Crucial for Campbell

Posted by: Chad Curtway  /  Category: Gambling

Which version of Jason Campbell is it Washington football enthusiasts can anticipate this season? The quarterback that is disliked and halfway out of town? Or might he be the 2nd coming of Doug Williams, as Clinton Portis has so expressively revealed recently?

Campbell’s execution is what this season is all about. Clinton Portis might close out this season with about eleven thousand rush yards through his lifetime, positioning himself for Hall of Fame contemplation with nearly 3 or 4 good seasons left in his playing days.

It won’t make a difference.

Malcolm Kelly may prove to be among the elite jovial receivers in the league this year, capable of drawing parallels to Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson by season’s end.

It will not mean much.

Brian Orakpo might be the next version of Lawrence Taylor, wreaking havoc on the left side of the entire NFC East.

It won’t mean much.

The only thing matters is that the team comes out on top in a minimum of 10 contests, and that their quarterback is the most eminent figure in every one of these expected ten victories.

Ignore the reality that he went half a season in ’08 lacking an interception, it was all about the amazing Clinton Portis at some point in that span. When the tide turned on the franchise, it was not Clinton Portis that took the criticism.

It was Campbell, who was not the sole individual with lessened production during the blackout, although was the only recipient of the talk radio and newspaper drama that followed.

Most people are in Jason Campbell’s defense, and nobody leads up that corner’s cheers louder than me.

But from a place of objectivity, there is a fine line between brilliance and mess for him this approaching year, and nothing else Washington might do or is able to do will overshadow the consistency he must show from week one and beyond.
