Being one of the most ancient of mankind’s sports also makes horse racing one of humanity’s most beloved sports. That horse racing is called the sport of kings is also no accident. Back in the days when the first horse races were held, it flourished as a sport for kings and nobility, and this is where the history of horse racing begins..

The roots of horse racing can be traced back to Central Asian tribes-people; they were the first to domesticate horses, and this dates back to approximately 4 500 BC, perhaps even more.

Modern racing is a huge venue today for legalized gambling, and in actual fact probably owes its existence to this. It is an expensive hobby, so horses, jockeys, trainers and owners, earn their keep through the gambling and subsidiary industries which have a place in this food chain.

In the United States the biggest spectator sport is baseball, the second biggest is horse racing. Annually people place $ billions of wagers on these races and it is a professional sport all over the world. Most popularly in the US obviously, the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South America, Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia.

Thoroughbreds are the most widely used breed and races take place on a flat track over a few different distances. Harness and quarter horse races are also popular, as is the steeplechase. One of the prime examples of a steeplechase is the Grand National in the UK.

Organized horse racing goes back as far into time as the history of the horse goes. Both the Ancient Romans and Greeks had a love of horse racing and in the Olympics of 638BC, chariot and mounted races were important events.

The organization of modern racing came about in the 12th century or thereabouts, when knights returned to England from the crusades, mounted on Arab thoroughbreds. More of these stallions were imported from the Holy lands and the next 400 years was spent getting the breeding strains just right.

Arabs were bred with English mares to obtain a perfect combination of stamina, endurance and speed. Hosting private races between the horses of two breeders for a wager was one of the favorite pastimes of British horse breeders and nobility.

During the reign of the Queen Ann horse racing was recognized as a professional sport and from 1702 till today, this sport has grown and developed. In a natural progression, racetracks were built all over the UK and more horses than two were entered into events.

Being one of the most ancient of mankind’s sports also makes horse racing one of humanity’s most esteemed sports. We have got the ultimate inside skinny on horse racing tips for specifically Australian horse races .

Omaha Hold’em is gaining in popularity undoubtedly due to the unique aspect of the game whereby four hole cards are dealt to each player at sometime in the game. Omaha Hold’em requires that players have extensive experience in order to grasp its complexities. The object of the game is not unique, the best five-card hand at showdown gets the pot. But in Omaha Hold’em the composition of this best hand must consist of an amalgamation of hole cards from their hands and any of five community cards. Limit Omaha and the more popular pot limit Omaha are the two betting structures usually found at the tables, but you may run across Omaha 8 as well.

The game got its start in America as the result of a brainstorming session of some veteran poker professionals who wished to come up with a mind bending poker variant. In a twist, pot limit Omaha has become wildly popular in Europe and is the most played variant of Omaha poker even having the edge over Hold’em in its popularity.

So, The Game is Played How?

The game uses a standard 52-card deck no different from the many other poker forms along with equally the similar concept of the same dealer throughout the game and the double blind format common today. Omaha Hold’em is special in that four cards face down are dealt to each player. Any two of these cards may be added to any three community cards to form the best hand. This is not the only oddity of play in Omaha Hold’em however.

The Three Community Card Requirement

If a player is holding one card that matches up to a two-pair board, he’s got himself a full house in Hold’em. Contrast this to Omaha where the player is required to use a minimum of three cards off the board. So, one is able to structure a full house with both hole cards and three appropriate community cards. If the board is showing three of a kind, of note, a full house can be put together if the player is holding a pair or four of a kind with a matching fourth card. Two suited cards are the rule to create a flush.

Once players have their hole card, the betting round ensues where in each player can call, raise or fold. With pot limit play, the player is allowed to raise up to the limit the rules allow. Betting goes on round after round until the flop. Here, the dealer shows three cards before the next betting round, followed by three more rounds of betting.

At the end of the final round, there will be four hole card in each player’s hand and five community cards. Not unusually, the nuts is composed of five cards created from three community cards and two hole cards. Pot limit games consist of players placing bets until the ultimate limit is reached, the limit being set by the house. Many tables can be found where only three re-raises per betting round can occur. If there are only two players left in the game at showdown, the limit is usually lifted. As previously stated, no different from other variants, the best five-card hand at showdown reaps all the rewards, the entire pot.

Under the umbrella of HORSE lies a combination of several poker types including Texas Holdem, Omaha Eight, Razz, Seven Card Stud and Seven Card Stud Eight. It is a limit betting game but in tournament play as the end draws near, the limit is lifted to speed up the play. It is a preeminent game of the World Series of Poker and is often found in poker games of high stakes to challenge the skills of players over multiple games. It is thought to be the ultimate game of the professional player as it demands a deep understanding of the complexities of several poker variants.

Combination games must be attempted only by those with experience in this genre and only then when they have a firm grasp of the rules before placing that initial bet. This is a limit game, but there are many instances of substantial pots and bets at HORSE tables since the game can become very fast paced. Betting limits range from $2/4 up to extremely high and these limits stand across all rounds played. Most casinos today will offer HORSE at multiple limit tables so the newcomer on up to the professional can get into the action.

The Workings of HORSE

If you are familiar with only one of the types of games in HORSE, play a lower limit table. The types will change whenever each rotation of the dealer button occurs and you will be playing up to ten hands per type before venturing onto the next one. So you will be playing one of the types described in the next paragraphs for up to ten rounds and you better know quite a bit about each one so you won’t lose your proverbial shirt. Each of the games involved do use the standard rules and methods of play peculiar to it, meaning that you should vary your strategy by saving your big bets for the one(s) in which you are the most skilled. In both table and tournaments you will be playing each of these games:

*Texas Holdem Poker

Way the most popular form of poker and always the highlight of the World Series of Poker. The objective of Holdem, a round type of game, is to put together the highest five card hand from five community cards and two hole cards. None of the hands or one or both can be called upon to structure the highest hand at showdown.

*Omaha Eight

Four cards are dealt in this variant and the majority of players will need at least two of their cards and any three out of five community cards to construct the highest hand. The showdown pots are split between the highest and lowest hand with the low hand having cards ranked between aces and eights.

*Razz Poker

Razz is set apart from other variants by the rule that the lowest possible hand gets the pot. In this vein, it is similar to Omaha Eight minus the hand restrictions. The one with the lowest high card or pair is set to win, but this can be offset by the expert bluff strategist, who has been known to seize the gold as well.

*Seven Card Stud

A very commonly played poker type where players are dealt cards in progression, some face up, some face down. The highest five card hand takes the cake.

*Seven Card Stud Eight (Hi-Lo)

This one follows the same direction as Omaha Eight with its split pot for the lowest hand below eight.

Most of the time, we are not satisfied with what we have. You can call it human nature or greed, depending on how you see it, but the fact is that we all look for material gains. You may slog it out in your career, but if luck does not smile on you, you’ll never get very far. This is where a lottery may help you.

Yes, there is no guarantee that it’ll get you the moolah, but nevertheless less you stand a fair chance. One very important factor when it comes to making money is luck. If your luck favors you then making the dough is no big deal. Be it betting, gambling or lottery, everything depends on your fortune.

This is a test of your fortune and nothing more than that. In betting, you are basically depending on variable factors such as a team or a horse. In gambling, you have to put in a lot of money to get in the game and the risk is exceptionally high.

Lottery is nothing like it. It’s just a chance to win a large sum of money by investing a few dollars. In case you don’t win, all you lose are just a few dollars that you spent for buying the ticket.

But yes, there is one way you can lose a big sum in lottery system; you buy tickets in bulk and you don’t win in the end. That way you lose the amount that you have spent on purchasing the tickets. People usually do that to stand a better chance of winning the prize money.

This game of luck has evolved from paper tickets, to online draws or ‘lotto’ with the advent of the internet, even though the traditional forms still exist.

There is a far amount of controversy surrounding lotteries too and scams are not unheard of. Then there are the numerous stories of lottery winners wasting their fortune and ending up worse off than they were.

Lotteries have two sides to them; on one side you have controversies and scams and on the other you have winning stories. Now it entirely depends on you how you perceive it; whether you see it as a scam or a chance to make good money.

While Crazy pineapple poker does bear some resemblance to Texas Hold’em, the much more familiar game, its peculiar rules and betting mechanics set it apart from this and any other of the poker variations. The variance is much higher to Pineapple because of the various potential hand combinations and the increased odds given by the extra card. If you have not encountered this interesting form of poker before, I entreat you to not involve yourself in a game without a thorough study of the rules and betting strategies, both by observing many games and reading the literature.

How Crazy Pineapple Poker is Structured

To begin the game two players put forth a blind ante before the deal, which is similar to many other poker games. Once the antes are placed, the dealer gives each player three cards, a round of betting follows, then the flop, after which the dealer shows the table three community cards. Now comes betting round one which encompasses pretty standard rules after which the craziness begins giving this variation its name with its crazy labyrinth of strategies and moves. This is why one must be prepared to play the game before taking the plunge and making that first bet.

After the flop, the players will place a bet and are able to trade in one of the three hole cards in their hand, at which point, the game takes on more of a standard Texas Hold’em countenance. However, this traded in card adds greatly to the games intricacy and this is where the serious study of pineapple pays off. One must have a profound conception of the bluff, the worthiness of the pot and positioning. The format is not too different from Texas Hold’em after this second round of betting as the foremost 5-card hand wins drawn from the player’s hole cards and the community cards. There are often more chances to hit draw hands like flushes, straights or threes of a kind in pineapple.

A Plan of Action for Crazy Pineapple Poker

Because of the game’s high variance, the player with more experience has the edge in using it to overpower his opponents. In many cases, there will be a substantial number of players remaining active after the flop with fond hopes of strengthening their hands on the trade-in, however with a powerful opening hand this is also the time to take advantage of the opportunity to value bet. It is no rarity to find a large percentage of players donate to the pot all the way up until the river, which also gives forth yet another opportunity for increased earnings. An optimum strategy just might be a combination of aggression and patience post turn to engineer a successful end.

The most formidable opening hands are comprised of high suited card or high pairs that can morph into a flush or better hand with no sweat. Be aware that the high number of visible cards that can be put into play enriches the triumphant hands more so than regular hold’em so increase your hopes at the pot in accordance. The move to hold a pair into the flop can be a good one provide the board is not displaying a good sound chance of hitting a straight, flush or full house. The tactic of slow pay can work for you but aggression at the proper moment can throw your opponents for a loop. By varying your moves you can optimize the pot size whenever your hand is powerful. One way to mix it up is to semi-bluff and watch the pots come your way. In any case, don’t stick to one strategy and one method of play in Pineapple. Challenge yourself, stir it up, and make yourself some bucks in the meantime.

Manila poker takes a big departure from other poker types in that it is played with a deck of 32 cards shortened by virtue of the fact that all the cards are eight or higher. It is sometimes called Seven-Up Poker because of this. Its major claim to fame is in Asia and Australia where It bears some semblance to Texas Holdem in that each player is dealt two cards, after this, though not much similarity remains. Manila is growing in popularity in Australian casinos and may also be found in home games where the players want a variety of poker types to pass the evening away enjoyably. It is rare in online poker venues.

So, How Do You Play Manila Poker?

Manila is composed of five betting rounds where one card is visible at each turn. A player is required to use both cards at showdown as building blocks to the superior five card hand. In addition, chances of drawing a different hand given the 32-card, 8 low composition of the deck and that a flush stomps a full house and aces are only high in a straight are next to none. Manila is generally played with a fixed limit betting format, and occasionally you will run into a table with only three betting rounds. Five betting rounds prolong the game and require greater concentration and focus, making them unsuitable for some casual games.

Winning Strategy in Manila Poker

Because of the condensed deck, you strategy should include that you draw for a full house or more, which means that table position is vital in creating your strategy. In the early position, pair cards are your best bet as are high-suited connectors like Jack-Ten, which allow for the most possible draws as this dynamic duo is present in every straight in Manila. You are competing against opponents with high card hands so be choosy with your hands and play pairs, high suited connectors, and draw hands while in a good position. Manila allows discards of any hand lower than a King-Jack suited. The majority of winning hands are comprised of a ranking of at least a full house, though drawing to a flush can occur.

You may find it to your advantage to discard straight draws as the board will undoubtedly pair, trumping your straight even in the event of an on-the-mark draw. Focus on the betting patterns of your fellow players through all of the rounds. They often are drawing to a full house. If and when the board pairs or a player becomes zealous, attempt to squash him on a specific hand. A high percentage of players are very discriminating when it comes to their initial hand selection, given that there are no pot odds for a lucky draw to a flush or higher. In these circumstances, you should bless the five betting rounds for offering up more good data so you can readjust your anticipation of the triumphant hand.

The bluff strategy is not usually a good one in Manila as many players tend to stay in the pot due to the limit betting structure and the obstacle-free path that exists to draw to a strong hand. For this reason, one must be very careful when taking on an aggressive stance in a multi-way pot unless he is extremely certain that his hand is the nuts. Given good pot odds, you might want to stay on a strong draw because of the fixed limit format, but do stay clear of any multi-way betting Armageddons.

You are probably not familiar with Badugi with its weird betting structure and moves but it is big in Asia and is becoming more well known in North America. The game consists of four cards and three drawing rounds in which bets are placed and players begin to assemble that fine Badugi hand into showdown. The game is usually played as fixed limit with two blinds and similar playing methods to other poker variations. Badugi games may also include pot or no limit play, most often seen in tournament play.

The Workings of Badugi

The game commences with a four-card face-down deal to each player. The first betting round ensues. The first player to place a bet is the one just before the large blind. A player is allowed to call, fold, or raise to the house limit. The players who did not fold are now able to draw from no cards at all up to four. These cards remain in their hands and are not played. Because of this rule, a player must pay strict attention to his discards and revalue his odds. In some games, the rounds are referred to as the time of day, much like streets in Texas Hold’em.

Do not discount the fact the hands that win in Badugi, will get you nowhere in traditional poker. It is essential that you master the composition of hand rankings in Badugi. Do not play without a thorough knowledge of this. In this game dual suits and duplicate cards are of no use, only discrete suits and values are of any worth to your hand. As a matter of fact, the name Badugi is in reference to a hand comprised of distinct suited cards. At the end of the game, while everyone is comparing hands, the first item to look for is the active card count followed by the lower value of the highest card keeping in mind that aces are low. Ergo, the best of the best Badugi hands will consist of ace, two, three, and four, all unsuited. The worst of the worst would be four kings.

Badugi Strategies to Win

The three drawing rounds in Badugi make it somewhat similar to 2-7 triple draw poker, of course the hand rankings set it apart as duplicate cards, whether two, three or four count for nothing. In all of the poker games, a player’s position at the table is very important. In Badugi, however, it is critical. When a player is able to observe his opponents’ draws from the catbird seat, he can determine the value of his hand relative to theirs. If an opponent draws many cards, the indication is that his hand is weak, the opposite for very few draws.

Assume you have a complete hand of four cards, i.e. a Badugi and are curious about the odds of your opponents drawing to a Badugi themselves. The odds can be calculated thusly. If a player swaps a card, he must hit upon the one that does not match a suit already in his hand. The odds in this case are 10 to 52 as the player will be unable to match any of the three cards present in his hand. Also to be considered are the odds of the player drawing a card with a lower high value.

Suppose you hold in your hand a four-card ten high. In this case, the player has a 6 in 52 chance of hitting a lower, discrete value as any card higher than ten in the correct suit will not make his hand better than yours.

A player has a 50% chance of drawing to a Badugi in each round, from the initial betting round on. These means that there is a little over 20% chance of drawing to that Badugi each round.
